Recycle
- Aluminum -
- Batteries - Toxic require special handling
- Cardboard
- Chemicals - Require special handling
- News Paper -
- Oil - Require special handling
- Pesticides - Toxic require special handling
- Plastic -
- Plastic grocery bags -
- Styrofoam - not recyclable, put in garbage or re-use as packing material.
- Tires - Require special handling
- Green Yard Waste - grass, shrubs and tree trimmings
Aloe plants, palm leaves and some others are not considered green waste, and disposed in garbage

Earths Atmosphere, Ozone and Green House Gases
- Atmosphere is primarily composed of Nitrogen (N2, 78%), Oxygen (O2, 21%) and Argon (Ar, 1%)
Various other very influential components are also present which include water (H2O, 0 - 7%),
Carbon Dioxide (CO2, 0.01-0.1%) and "greenhouse" gases or Ozone (O, 0 - 0.01%),
- Troposphere 0-9 miles high (lower atmosphere) most weather in this region
- Stratosphere 9-31 miles high - Ozone which absorbs suns ultra violet radiation is in this region
- Mesophere 37-53 miles high (middle atmosphere)
- Thermosphere 74-372 miles high (upper atmosphere) space shuttle orbits in this region
- Carbon Dioxide - CO2, non combustable gas formed by animal and plant respiration, combustion and
organic decomposition. Used in fire extinguishers, soda carbonation,
- Chlorine - Cl,
- Chlorofluorocarbons - CFCs, Various halocarbon compounds consisting of carbon, hydrogen,
chlorine and fluorine. Once widely used as aerosol propellants and refrigerants
- Methane - CH4 (natural gas is about 75% CH4) formed by vegetable decompostion and animal rumen
- Oxygen - O2
- Ozone - O3
Other Environmentally Bad Gases
- Carbon Monoxide - CO, highly poisonous gas formed by incomplete combustion of carbonaceous fossil
fuels such as gasoline
Current Fuels or Sources of Energy
- Coal - carbon fossil fuel
- Diesel - carbon fossil fuel
- Gasoline - carbon fossil fuel
- Natural Gas - (about 75% methane), burns much cleaner than gasoline and also cleaner than propane
- Nuclear -
- Propane - stored underpressure as LP-gas or LPG (Liquid Propane Gas). Derived from processing
pertroleum products or natural gas. Produces up to 2,500 BTU per cubic foot of gas. Burns much
cleaner than gasoline but not as clean as natural gas.
- Wood -
Alternative Cleaner Sources of Energy
- Biodiesel - a cleaner alternative to diesel, made from vegetable oils, mostly from corn
- E85 - a blend of 85% Ethanol and 15% gasoline makes a cleaner burning alternative for cars
Vehicles that run E85 are known as "Flexible Fuel Vehicles (FFVs)".
Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol) clean burning, made from starch crops like corn, barley and wheat.
- E10 - blend of 10% Ethanol and 90% gasoline which slightly reduce emmissions but is not
considered an alternative fuel under the EPact regualtions.
- Hydrogen Fuel Cell -
Environmentally Clean Non Polluting Sources of Energy
- Solar Electric - solar electric systems still too expensive and location dependant
- Water Turbine Electric - also known as hydro electric typically found at river or lake dams
- Wind Turbine Electric -
